Time Warner Inc. - already under fire for a record that glorifies cop killing - will soon release a new album urging the assassination of President Bush, a police group charged yesterday.
The New York Sheriff's Association, which urged a boycott of "Batman Returns" over Ice-T's "Cop Killer" album, distributed a photo of what it said was the cover of a new Time Warner release by the rapper Paris.
The picture shows a menacing, Uzi-toting black man about ambush the president in front of the U.S. Capitol.
"The effect is it will give someone the idea that they can get on an album cover if they kill the president," said Peter Kehoe, the group's executive director.
A spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, meanwhile, said such an album cover could "incite people to do things they wouldn't normally even think of doing to the president."
"Our concern is people with some kind of mental problem being influenced with such things," said Special Agent Timothy Johnson.
Late yesterday, Time Warner spokesman Tod Hullin denied the picture was from the yet-to-be-released album.
However, moments later, Laura Hines, a spokeswoman for Tommy Boy Records, a Time Warner recording subsidiary which represents Paris, admitted that the explosive album cover is under consideration.
"It was a concept, but no artwork has been selected yet," insisted Hines.
A second source identified by Kehoe as a top Tommy Boy official, told The Post the photo was intended for use as the album cover.
"They have posters hanging all over the office. That's always been the idea," said the source.
Both the source and Kehoe said the Paris record includes a song that urges Bush's death, but they couldn't provide lyrics.
Though the Time Warner spokesman said the album may never be released, a Tommy Boy official said it's due out in September.
