T-K.A.S.H. - Turf War Syndrome

By Morley Seaver, Rocknworld.com

This is one of my favorite rap albums from the last few years. Not being familiar with California-based T-K.A.S.H., I wasn't sure what to expect. However, he has put out a record that has 15 cuts (16 counting a remix) with not a bad cut among them. Combining big beats, social commentary, and some hot production, we're talking excellent here.

The record encompasses a wide selection of material, going from the hard-hitting "American Nightmare" to the funk of "In My Drawz". The title cut is a harsh but riveting song with an aggressive beat, also featuring Guerilla Funk Recordings Pres Paris who also did production work on the record. A butt-shaking dancehall beat kicks off "Louder Than Words" which works well against the hard funk of the rest of the material.

Try and I might, I keep throwing this back in the CD player. Listen to it for the lyrics or just roll with the beats. Office or car, it works well whenever and wherever.
